Every "I love you" I whispered in the dark Was waiting for you...
Waiting for you to hear it.
You-
You, my love,
Even the universe bends when you smile.
Loving you is like rereading my favorite story:
Familiar, comforting,
And always beautiful.
If you ever saw yourself through my eyes, You'd understand
What loving unconditionally feels like— What worshipping someone truly means.
Still,
You remain the poem I couldn't write.
I'm sorry...
For that night.
But if we ever-
Ever-could turn back time, I'd fall to my knees
And beg until you forgave me.
Was I too rough?
Too harsh on you?
Nothing ever broke me... Until you left.
I shattered-
Shattered into a thousand pieces, Each one echoing your name.
I couldn't bring myself to call you back. So I began loving you from afar,
Quietly.
Faithfully.
But if I ever speak the truth-
I'd choose to hold you,
Rather than please the world.
Because I want to be
Where you are.
If you gave me just one more chance,
I'd try to do everything right. Every. Single. Thing.
But until then...
You'll remain The poem
I couldn't write.
