It'll eventually fade, I whispered to myself
Things will get back to normal, or so I thought.
I hope it will, I wish it did, but I know it never will.
I sat beside the bonfire, it slowly dimmed.
The warm embrace was ephemeral, with dying embers that brought me peace.
Drowned in thoughts of What Ifs, time silently passed.
WHAT IF, I could turn back time,
WHAT IF, I could go back to that night.
WHAT IF, I never picked that call.
WHAT IF; We never met.
As I stared at the fading warmth.
The dying flames ignited a spark in me.....
WHAT IF - I enjoyed the moment
WHAT IF, I never wanted to go back.
WHAT IF, I answered that call and said Hi.
WHAT IF, I was glad our paths crossed.
WHAT IF, we fell in love....
The night sky erupted with firecrackers, and I.....
I fell in love; I wish I never did,
but there I was, left with bittersweet memory
of what could have been.....
Can we skip the part,
where I fell in love???
